Making Arepas is one the easiest and quick way to prepare a meal. Arepas is originally from Venezuela.  It’s basically made of ground corn dough that is thin and round. Anybody can make it any shape they like.
The corn comes as a dry powder. When it’s mixed with water it turns into dough.
The step by step instructions will show how easy and delicious Arepas really are!

First, all the ingredients need to be handy before mixing. The ingredients are:
·
In Instant precooked corn (powder) dough (called “Harina Pan”) which is found in any local Hispanic food store.
·
     3 cups of warm water.
·        Salt and pepper.
·        Olive oil.

Instructions:
In a bowl mix 3 cups of warm water with the instant precooked corn powder. The dough has to be mixed with both hands (that’s when the fun starts). Lastly add the salt and peppe and mix well.

With both hands grab a small portion from the bowl and make a round circle until a ball shape is formed. Press the dough until you get a round flat shape.
In a flat and warm pan add olive oil. Place the flat Arepa and let it cook on both sides for approximately 5 minutes.

When the Arepa is cooked and crispy open it in the middle with a knife and add butter. You cou can eat it with chicken, meat, tuna, eggs and pretty much anything else you desire. It's delicious, economic and easy to make. Enjoy your meal!

This is how they look like in the end! Yumm!
